Case Story
Single
PC Edition
I
just wanted to let you know that Alexander SPK
Single PC Edition worked like a charm for me.
I installed it on my home PC Friday night, and
Saturday morning, after the PC had (as usual)
crashed and rebooted overnight, SPK had a full
crash report (actually, 32 crash reports, one
for the previous night and 31 for previous
crashes). The problem file in each and
every one of those crashes, it turned out, was
[VPN Driver], installed as part of [VPN
Client]. I would NEVER have figured that out
on my own, as the same file (and software) is
also running w/o problems on two other
computers I use (my laptop and my office
desktop), both of which are also running XP
Pro SP2, and it was also running w/o problems
for several months on my home PC before the
crash/reboot problems began.
In any case, after uninstalling the VPN
software and manually removing the [VPN
Driver] file from the drivers subdirectory
(and deleting the registry key that pointed to
it), my home PC has been up and running,
crash-free, for two+ days -- which never would
happen when I was having the crash problems.
I may try, in time, reinstalling the VPN
software to see if it was simply a corrupted
file or other installation problem. But
if the problem recurs, I can uninstall again
and live without it.
The bottom line is that SPK was definitely
worth the price for me!
